Accroya.com is my return to a domain I originally registered nearly 20 years ago. After waiting for a squatter to release the name (why else would anyone want it?), I finally registered it again.

Within the pages of this website, I’ll attempt to impart my words of wisdom on a few topics which I feel I have some authority, most notably product reviews. For product reviews, I worked as an advertising and marketing executive for two decades, and I feel that I have a keen eye for both diamonds in the rough and polished poop. I particularly enjoy evaluating new products, relishing in the guinea pig status of being the first to plunk down my own hard-earned cash to see if a product is really worth it.

My areas of specialty include As Seen on TV products, children’s toys, travel-related services, and men’s health.

I have no affiliation with any product or manufacturer, nor do I accept products for free to review, except in very rare and extraordinary circumstances. I will often write a preliminary review before I’ve received a product, and then update my review after I’ve had a chance to fully evaluate the item.

What does “Accroya” mean anyway?

It is a word I made up when I was 14, when I drew a custom bass guitar and wanted to name it something that sounded like “destroyer.” Since the word didn’t seem to exist in the English language, I eventually adopted it as an extension of identity. That’s probably an anti-climactic explanation, but that’s all I’ve got.

My name is James White, and Accroya is MY word. I created it back in 1982.

MY WORD, got it?

I’ve used “accroya” in email addresses, video games, forums, etc, since the 1980’s. In the mid-1990’s, I had the domain accroya.com for a couple years but never really used it and let it expire.

Then a few years later I was shocked to find out that some frigging SQUATTER registered MY WORD and accroya.com was lost.

So began the wait.

I set a reminder on my computer to check accroya.com every year just after the squatter’s registration was set to expire. Finally in 2013, I was surprised to see accroya.com was free and clear, and I snatched it back up.

The prodigal son has returned to its creator.

Accroya.com is back where it belongs.

So what does “accroya” mean, anyway? It doesn’t mean anything! It’s just a word I made up when I was 14 years old.

A friend of mine showed me a drawing of a guitar he designed. So I copied the idea and designed my own bass guitar. I wanted something that sounded like “Destroyer” so I made up “accroya.”

In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s when choosing online names required a little creativity, I found that my old word “accroya” was never used, thus a good choice. So “accroya” became my de facto user name (It was either that, or some weird composer name like Hovhaness or Scriabin – or sometimes the Captain Kirk “Indian” name of Kirock).

But a funny thing happened on the way back to rescuing accroya.com… A few years ago, I wanted to create a blog for the sole purpose of ranting about random stuff. Accroya.com was stolen taken, so I had to come up with something else. Because my rants were so controversial, I decided to keep the blog anonymous. That website is now hugely successful, and still anonymous (so I won’t divulge the name).

So now, with accroya.com safely back home, I can blog again without anonymity under my beloved domain.
